Middle School Teacher
By Ariel Doyle
There is no one-size-fits-all student,
For one does not equal all,
In this class, you will be measured in uniqueness,
No difference too small
This class will incorporate your likeness,
Your independence, your needs, your strengths,
Respect your worries, your shyness, and
diversity in language will be embraced.
For that’s the beauty of this class …
your stories, your backgrounds, your faith.
You deserve someone to trust,
teachers and classmates who truly see
you for all that you are,
and all that you can be.
Your culture will be acknowledged,
Your histories included, your heritage respected
Your “YOU” ness never muted.
Abandon the idea that differences divide!
Let us tell stories; let us share
Of our families, our traditions,
our opinions, with care.
Together we will learn, and we will grow.
Til one day, this classroom may feel like a second home.
When you leave here, you will feel heard and seen
Readier for the world and all that your future will bring.
